President Zardari said conspiracies that began from the times of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to this day continue and regretted the role of "political actors" who consider themselves to be politicians. The President said Benazir Bhutto was martyred so that she might not become the prime minister, however despite delay in holding of 2008 polls, Pakistan Peoples Party got majority seats and installed its own President and the government.
"Even today a conspiracy of pen is going on against the martyrs (of PPP)", the President told the crowd that frequently raised vociferous slogans of "Aki Zardari sab pe bhaari". He said it was Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who gave the poor and the downtrodden a right, respect and a voice and every bigwig of the area now has to go to them and beg for a vote.
"It was his vision that led the dictators to take him to the gallows," the President said. He said "those who were part of that conspiracy have now admitted that it was a judicial murder. Despite all this, Bhutto still lives in the hearts and minds of a common man."
He said history has also proven that those who led to the fall of Benazir Bhutto''s governments were a conspiracy. "The history bears testimony to the fact that those who tried to stop Benazir from returning (to Pakistan), dismissed her first government ... these non-state actors have admitted conspiring against PPP."
Despite all this BB, served two terms as the prime minister of Pakistan. President Zardari said: "the same allegations were levelled when BB''s first government was dismissed, but the people rejected it saying "Ya Allah Ya Rasool, Benazir Beqasur."
The President joined the workers in prayers for all those who have sacrificed their lives for the country and particularly noted the police personnel who are at the forefront in stopping the suicide bombers. He said Benazir Bhutto was the first woman leader and gave a right and respectful place for the women of Pakistan. "In her honour, we have launched the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to help them meet their basic needs at their doorsteps".
He said 40,000 acres of developed land has been handed over to the women to empower them and as a protection, this land cannot be transferred to any male family member. Paying rich tributes to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The President earlier performed the groundbreaking of the Ghabir dam project having a storage capacity of 66,203 acre feet. The hydropower generation of 50-KW will irrigate 30,000 acres. The dam will be constructed at Danda Shah Bilawal Talagang.
Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf termed it a historic day for the entire Potohar region and said the dam will bring employment and empowerment to the people of the area.
